2011 Silver Eagle Bullion Coins Debut

http://www.silvercoinstoday.com/2011-silver-eagle-bullion-coins-debut/103603/
The United States Mint on Monday, January 3, began selling the 2011 Silver Eagle bullion coin through its network of Authorized Purchasers.

Buyers ordered 1,696,000 of the .999 fine bullion coins on the first business day of the year, according to US Mint's published sales figures.

A portion of those sales include 2010-dated Silver Eagle bullion coins. The US Mint has not published how many of last year's issue remain, but has said they will be sold until their inventory is completely depleted.

The new Silver Eagle Bullion Coins are available two weeks before last year's issue. The 2010-dated coins were launched on January 19, which was atypical. Historically, the US Mint would begin producing a new year's issue around November to have them in supply and available for delivery by January. However, enormous demand kept the Mint striking 2009 Silver Eagle bullion pieces until the final day of the year. They were the only silver bullion options available to Authorized Purchasers until they finally sold out on January 12, 2010.

The US Mint does not sell any of its investment-grade bullion products directly to the public. Instead it relies on its network of Authorized Purchasers who buy in bulk and then resell to other coin and precious metals dealers. The US Mint charges the Authorized Purchasers the cost of silver plus a premium of $2.00 per coin.

The numismatic or collector 2011 Silver Eagle Proof Coins are schedule for released by July 6, 2011. A release date for the 2011 Silver Eagle Uncirculated Coins has not been announced. The US Mint will offer these collector coins directly to the public. In addition to the proof and uncirculated finishes, the coins also feature the "W" West Point mintmark. The bullion coins do not.

A Total Eclipse Of The Economy & Good Old Fashion Witch Hunt by Martin A. Armstrong (MUST READ!)

As we approach 2011, the world economy is in the worse possible shape it could be in. Everything is posturing for a very major turn that is such a rarity, the total eclipse of the Moon is about on par for the cyclical change we now face. THIS IS THE COLLAPSE OF SOCIALISM/MARXISM and anyone who thinks this is just a plain old recession, had better look behind the very thick curtain. We have gold reaching the top of that channel in the mid 1400 range, the Dow Jones rallying instead of declining, interest rates rising after the launching of QE2, and we have throughout both Eastern and Western Europe, some over unemployment student uprisings throughout both Eastern and Western Europe, some over unemployment as in Tunisa, others rioting about cuts in social benefits as in London and Rome, as Hungary passes legislation to silence the press that is no different than in the USA that does the same thing quietly with phone calls. Yet, as we watch the rare event of a TOTAL ECLIPSE of the Moon, in ancient times, this would be an omen of bad things to come just as the comet that light the sky foretold the death of Julius Ceasar in 44BC. By the augurs of Ancient or Middle Ages, we should have a good old fashion witch-hunt by now. Oh that's right! The SEC and Justice Department are doing that. They are charging everyone they can that had nothing to do with the economic decline so they can pretend to be prosecuting somebody. But that is what witch-hunts are all about. It is about God, Justice, and the American Way with a side-dish of apple pie. It's just about bullshitting the people to take their attention off the real culprits. Yet no matter what they do or say, the FREE MARKETS will still tell the truth and are warning that we are facing a TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE GLOBAL ECONOMY!

Ted figures that JPMorgan et al were forced to sell on last Tuesday’s big run-up in the price of silver… or the silver price would have gone ballistic on them.”

With Bart Chilton Suddenly On Board, CFTC's Position Limit Plan Is Now A Go
Submitted by Tyler Durden on 01/04/2011 18:17 -0500

Was today's broad and very much coordinated selloff in commodities a result of the just announced news that the CFTC's position limit plan may, contrary to prior expectations, be enforced very soon? It appears that outspoken CFTC commissioner has flipped in his stalling tactic and instead is now endorsing the position limit plan. Per Reuters: "Under the system, if a trader's holdings in a commodity reaches a certain threshold, it triggers a new level of heightened regulatory scrutiny by the CFTC where commissioners could vote to require the trader to reduce their positions." This means that JPM's accumulated holdings in various precious and industrial metals are not only about to likely become public, but that the CFTC will be mandated to very shortly enforce a break up on those positions which are deemed too concentrated. It is unclear how foreign entities, to whom the recent accumulation in various precious metals has been attributed, will be impacted by the proposal which now appears may be shortly enacted.

Race To Debase 2010 via GoldSilver.com

Take a moment to examine how gold and silver crushed their paper currency competition in 2010.

In US dollar terms gold was up 29.6% on the year. Beginning the year at $1097, gold showed a steady pace reaching $1421 to close out the year.

Silver absolutely dominated the field with a flurrying finish rounding out an 83% gain for the year. Amazing!

Silver lapped four fiat currencies of the more than 75 we tracked in 2010.

The white metal also threatened to lap seventeen other paper notes with above a 90% appreciation against such names as the euro, the Denmark kroner, and the Vietnamese dong... to name a few.

The Venezuelan bolivar was the ultimate loser against the price of gold and silver with much of this due to the country's double currency devaluation within a year's time! It seems dollars are hard to find in Venezuela and they are currently fetching upwards of 8 bolivar per dollar in the black market (almost twice the official rate of 4.3 bolivars per dollar).

So what happens when the dollar begins to have its upcoming currency crisis? If the reserve currency of the world suffers devaulations, what then is the world's monetary flight to safety?

That's right, 5000 years running, gold and silver have been mankind's ultimate money and safe haven. 2010 was no exception to this rule:

From Neil Hume at the Financial Times, “Carlos Slim, the world’s richest man is looking to enter the silver market in a big way. And that big way, according to KingWorldNews, is a bid for Fresnillo, the Mexican based mining company that is poised to become the world’s biggest silver producer...All of which could be contributing to this morning’s spike which has carried Fresnillo to the top of the FTSE 100 leaderboard.”

Harvey Organ's Daily Gold & Silver Report - Gold and silver withstand another attack/silver rises above 31.00 dollars.

http://harveyorgan.blogspot.com/2011/01/gold-and-silver-withstand-another.html

Here is a brief segment from the report:

The comex notified us that 9 delivery notices were sent down for physical silver for a total of 45,000 oz. The total number of notices sent down so far this month total 228 or 1,140,000 oz.

To obtain what is left, we take the delivery notices of 9 and subtract from today's open interest of 55, to give us 46 notices left to be served upon or 230,000 oz.

Thus the total number of silver oz standing in this delivery month for options is as follows:

1,140,000 oz + 230,000 oz (to be served0 = 1,370,000.

It seems that in both gold and silver, the open interest recorded was faulty or we
had our usual cash settlements to reduce those open interests.

I will comment on the inventory changes for you tomorrow.
